Lyrics
Obligation has plagued my mind
I will answer the call if you break my fall
Encumbrance of the damage inside
It's abolished my will as it crosses the threshold
And my door is always closed
I slip below
My intent to persuade you
This lie serenades you
And nothing else discards
As it falls on me
A necessary weight to carry
An overwhelming sense of burden
I can take you there
I am the one
Damnation of my design
Pour the sickness in me, ever dead will I be
I'm growing weary, I'm falling behind
You need to believe, I won't be second best
And my door is always closed
I slip below
My intent to persuade you
This lie serenades you
And nothing else discards
As it falls on me
A necessary weight
An overwhelming sense of burden
I can take you there
Calming my senses
I'm reaching for more time
Finding my center
A lonely state mind
My soul is dying as the flesh calls
I'm swallowing the defeat
I will be the one
To carry you away
This place has never been my home
This place has never been my own
Fading out
I won't be the last one standing
Fading out
I won't be the last
As it falls on me
A necessary weight to carry
An overwhelming sense of burden
As it falls on me
A necessary weight to carry
An overwhelming sense of burden
I can take you there
Ryan's Thoughts
Sense of Burden is a song about someone who has taken on too much responsibility for themselves and others around them, and are now required to carry that burden to keep everyone else from falling apart.
The song didn't really start out this way, and honestly, I decided on that meaning after the lyrics were already written.
They're basically just a bunch of bullshit, but if you think hard enough about them, there is a meaning there.
It worked out.
